The wedding will be held outdoors in the gardens of Vizcaya. The Gardens is an uncovered pavillion that provides some minimal shading from the building and mature trees. For those of you unfamiliar with Sacramento, early September brings fair weather reaching to the low 90's during the peak of the day, the mean temperature is 70 degrees, and it will cool off to the mid-50's. The sun sets around 7:30 p.m. We hope this helps in planning what you are going to wear. Mike and I just want everyone to be comfortable and happy! We plan on having a "photo" guest book - if you don't want a poloroid taken of you at the wedding, please join in "signing" our guest book by bringing a good snapshot from home! A map to Vizcaya will be in your invitation. Private parking is provided.
The reception will be held indoors, immediately adjacent to the ceremony site. The reception will be a full sit down meal, so come with an empty stomach! In your invitation, you will be asked to RSVP to your type of meal. Please select one main course for each guest and place the appropriate number next to the course name - roasted chicked with rock shrimp, herb crusted sea bass, or veal & spinach stuffed beef tenderloin. However, be prepared that the ceremony will start at 5:30 and even after the completion of the ceremony it will likely take 45 minutes to an hour before the meal is served. Hors d'oeuvres will be served in the interim and the bar will be opened to all guests. Be sure to fill in the special line on the RSVP card for music requests - we want to see everyone dance!
Hotel information will be provided inside of your "save-the-date" card. Vizcaya is a bed and breakfast located in mid-town Sacramento. The sister bed and breakfast hotel is The Sterling, which is less than two miles from the Vizcaya. While either of these sites are exceptional places to stay, the number of rooms is extremely limited. However, there are a number of larger hotels within a mile of the wedding and reception site.
